That mom is so nice. I’m trying to imagine something like this going down in our house, especially with some sour bastards like the husband and I in charge. There would be no hugs nor opportunities to express your disappointment or outrage in a constructive setting. Just: “EVERYBODY SHUT THE FUCK UP. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE GET FAMOUS ANYWAY SO SHUT THE FUCK UP. AND KAYLEY WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE? DIDN’T I BAN YOUR ASS FROM MY HOUSE? GET OUT OF HERE.

My reaction would be similar to yours. I don’t know if I could deal with a room of screaming, crying teenage girls, especially if American Idol was the source of all of the angst.

OMG! I had to watch it, based only on the fact that your comments made me think of my current method of parenting…YELL. AS. LOUD. AS. YOU. CAN.
The best part was close to the end, where the one girl says “I bet $50 on this. I don’t even HAVE $50!!”
Glad I have boys who don’t care about American Idol!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught the bit about the $50 bet. I’m also glad I didn’t have any food in my mouth at the time–it caught me totally off guard.
Actually if it were me–
Hey, it’s GOING to be me in another ten years (my daughter’s three), and if it isn’t Idol it’ll be something else, but whatever it is, I hope she can keep it in perspective. What’ll be worse, Clay Aiken’s kid getting voted off, or Jenna Bush getting elected?
