wholesome father’s day
We were leaving my mom’s house after spending the afternoon with my dad and grandparents and similar folks. My dad said something faux-exasperated to the husband like, “Gah. You made me a grandfather.”
“It wasn’t just me, Grampy,” chuckled the husband.
“Yeah, but you had a hand in it,” my dad replied.
The husband paused, smirking, deliberating whether or not to complete the joke my dad had unwittingly set up for him. He decided to go for it.
“Ah, it wasn’t a hand, Grampy.”
Precious.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dad-types…and all of their body parts.

Sounds like something my husband would keep bottled in until we’re on our way home. I don’t think he’d say it to their face, but you never know. I’ve been wrong before. Good stuff.

@Crystal, heh. yeah, I could tell that he was hesitating because it was my family, but honestly at this point they really shouldn’t be surprised by anything that comes out of his mouth.

Lovely. Glad to report I couldn’t guess the punchline of the joke. Thought he was implying he was not the father. I get it. I’m so naive.
