I'll just keep talking to myself

After a little digging, I found out that the moderators of went perusing through several fun-filled communities, including (of which I'm a member…duh). They picked random people and added them to their community. How very odd. I don't know what to make of the whole thing.

I was looking at my user info for a minute and noticed that I am now a member of . Thing is, I have no recollection of joining this community or ever seeing or hearing of it before in my life. I have no idea how I came to be a member. Anyone got any ideas how this could have happened?

That's the sound that my son is making over the baby monitor at this moment. I've been trying to put him down for a nap for about an hour but with no success. I know he's tired, though. So I just put him in his crib in the hopes that he'll tire himself out. It's been about ten minutes and he's still wide awake it seems.

I'm waiting on the boyfriend to get home. yay

I went to look at a day care center today and was pretty happy with what I saw. The director was out to lunch so I'm going to call later and have her mail me their literature. I'll probably go back one more time to talk to her in person, but overall I felt really comfortable there. It's much cheaper than the JCC, too, but not so cheap that you wonder what the hell is going on.

So that makes me feel a lot more confident about starting off on my job search. Of course, I just read something in the NY Times about one of the libraries there starting an open air lending library and how that was all the rage during the Depression and could this be the sign of a new one? Not encouraging.

Also not encouraging was my Uncle Jimmy's look of disgust when I told him about my QPA. He pretty much dashed any hopes I had of getting into grad school, but I think it was mostly a platform for him to tell me about all the fabulous grades he got when he was in college. Yeah, lotta good it did you, you gingivitis-ridden snob. No matter, though.

Today has been rather boring. I got plenty of sleep, which was very nice. Mostly I've farted around and done laundry, whined to my mother for having to go to my grandparents' country club for a Memorial Day picnic. Am I alone or doesn't there seem to be something so wrong about that? A picnic, to me, means cheap meat and beer and a boombox playing scratched CDs. I'm also befuddled by my mom's recent habit of getting mad at me for her own ineptitude. I don't think it's my fault that she's spent the last two days at various cemeteries throughout the city dusting off the graves of our dearly departed, but somehow she keeps yelling, “Kelly, I wanted to get a lot done this weekend!” Great, get shit done, quit visiting graves you fucking cult of the dead. I think she's just pissy because she has about three billion outfits stored in the basement, all of which she is currently too fat to wear. But again, this is not my fault. I am, however, a little peeved by the fact that she continues to buy certain junk foods which I have no resolve over…namely Swedish Fish and M&Ms. If these are around I get all Dr. Strangelove and don't realize what my hand is doing until I'm stuffing candy into my mouth.
But whatever, that wasn't the point of this post. I just wanted to say that Saturday night at Paco's was pretty fun, although there were several times when it seemed to parody itself. I had to stifle a few laughs when several acoustic guitars appeared out of nowhere and the muffled verses of Neil Young songs started to fill the night air. I mean, really. The only people I knew were Paco, his roommate Jon, and Jonah. I was a tad uncomfortable. Aided by a few White Russians, I had quite a few slurred heart-to-hearts with people I barely knew. I also got to talk with Paco and Jonah about matters of life and love which is always good to do…especially when you can't really remember all of the cheesy shit you say to your best friends. 😉
I'm really anxious today and I'm not sure why.
I heard from the boyfriend today, finally. He said that he's having a blast. I don't doubt it. I'm a little jealous but oh well. Hopefully next year when the baby's a little older and I trust someone with him for four days and we have some more money we'll both be able to go and do it up right. None of that stuffing canned goods into a pillowcase and crashing on the floor of your friends' hotel room nonsense that he pulled this year. There's roughing it and then there's just being lame.
On Saturday I started dreaming up a party that I want to throw in the fall. I'm thinking it will be like a combined birthday party for the boyfriend and me. In my mind, it's going to be totally dope. But we'll see what actually comes to fruition.
I have a feeling that I've made a ton of grammar mistakes in this post and I kinda don't care.
New addition to the To Be Stabbed List: the fuckheads featured in the NYT Magazine article about the newest generation of Republicans. Their scam is to dress and act like stereotypical liberals, make friends with them, and then slowly convince them to cross over. Assholes. And if Ann Coulter just shut the fuck up real soon….I don't know I'm getting too mad just thinking about her.
I need sex.

gushiness gushiness, I miss the boyfriend a lot. This sucks.

I went to Paco's last night which was pretty fun. I really didn't drink that much, but it was enough to put me way over my WW points for the day. annoying.

oh, fuckit, I don't feel like doing this right now.

I stayed up really late last night watching TV. Kicking and Screaming was on the Trio channel…at least I think that's what channel it was. I hadn't seen that movie in such a long time and it made me really happy…and sad.
I was having trouble falling asleep since the boyfriend wasn't there. How pathetic. I ate an entire bag of popcorn by myself. I sprayed I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on it and then sprinkled some of the Cajun seasoning that my mom brought me from New Orleans. It was really fucking good.
I started to watch Elimidate but it was four guys competing for a girl and I found that I just wasn't interested. Somehow it's far more amusing for me to watch the girls make asses of themselves. Does that make me a traitor?
Wow I think this is my most boring entry to date.
uuhhhh, let me see. Yesterday the baby and I went to Pulp for a minute because they were having a cook out on the loading dock. It took forever to get there but it was worth it. The baby had fun flirting with all the ladies and I got to talk to Shanley and Cindy and Geoff which was nice. I hadn't talked to them in awhile. Everyone there is just so damn cool. I don't think I've worked anywhere that the people were that easy to get along with. That makes me even more nervous about going to look for a job. I keep imagining myself trapped under fluorescent lights with a bunch of dolts.
shudder.
Baby stinks.

I always feel pressured to come up with a subject and they're really not necessary

Anyway, I watched Casino last night. I missed the first half hour or so but it was the first time that I had seen that much of that movie. It's pretty nuts. Robert DeNiro is so skinny in that flick! And I must say that Sharon Stone kind of gets on my nerves. Although she does have that crazy-cokehead act down pretty well. Ever since I saw an interview with her on TV and she was talking about her near-death experience she's made me groan ever so slightly.
Pete and Brian Whitelady called my mobile last night around 2:30 a.m. Brian's one of those folks who drinks a little too much and Pete's one of those folks who really doesn't drink much at all but if everyone else is drunk, he'll play along. It's kind of weird. Pete just guffawed in my ear for about ten minutes while Brian incoherently sexually harrassed me in the background as he so often does. Sigh. I have such sweet friends.
The boyfriend is headed to Detroit this weekend, as well as half of the people that I know. I'm upset. I'm going to miss the boyfriend a ton and I'm also pretty jealous that they're going to DEMF and I just can't. blargh. But no need to dwell.
Stacey is going to Richmond. Paco is having a party but I don't have any sober transportation prospects so it looks like I'll just be staying home this weekend.
Uhhhhhh, what else was I going to say?

Wow, I really can't remember….

Oh duh. I'm rather upset over the looting of the archaeological sites in Iraq. Tons of cuneiform tablets are just being stolen. I'm sure there are issues over rightful ownership of those artifacts. I just think it's sad that such an ancient civilization is in danger of being lost forever because of the unrest.

I think I need to sell some CDs this weekend.

I promise that not all of my entries will be this stream-of-concsiousness nonsense. I just feel rushed because of the dial up situation.

a few things

Friday, May 23rd, 2003

My Live Journal turned one on the 20th. Yippee!

Fuck dial up. even if it is free.

I hate it when LJ is super slow.

My paid account is about to expire.

Stinky hoodies are currently being laundered.

Elimidate is on. I really have a hard time believing these people exist.

I turned the baby's car seat around yesterday. Now he rides facing forward. Woooo! I bet you're all just so excited.

Bite me.
